Craft Beer Review: Wake Up Dead (Russian Imperial Stout) - Left Hand Brewing
GOOD MORNING. YOU’VE WOKEN UP DEAD. YOU’RE IN RUINS.
But don’t be discouraged. Here’s a black ale to brighten your day. Wake Up Dead lurks in our cellars for over 4 months before being unleashed. Hints of raisins, black licorice, coffee and dark chocolate are followed by earthy, herbal hop notes. Any apprehensions about the rest of your day are quickly forgotten, for whatever the mind expects, it finds. Sometimes you’re not in the mood for what everyone else is having.
On the 159th episode of BevNerd Video Podcast, I make and taste Taco Bell’s Chocolate Taco Dessert Kit. Grabbed it for $2.88 at Walmart. Comes with 6 “chocolate” hard taco shells, chocolate sauce and sprinkles. Bring your own ice cream & whipped cream! Sounds fun, but does it work? Find out!

Killer Buzz is formulated with Giant Hornet Amino Acids…WHAT?! That’s right, they have synthesized the amino acid blend that is found in the Asian Giant Hornet, who’s known for speed and bursts of energy. No insects are found in this can.

Double D and I pop the top on this hoppy hellion known as RuinTen. Dude, we all know Stone Brewing is the nuts…But was this beer simply an assault on our senses or an astringent aqueous ambrosia of the gods?
IBUs 110 ABV 10.8% Release Date June 17th, 2013
We first released this decidedly indelicate beer in 2012, as Stone Ruination Tenth Anniversary IPA, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of our belovedly bitter Stone Ruination IPA. Stone RuinTen IPA uses the same recklessly hoppy recipe as the 2012 release; only the name has changed, as we plan to unleash this belligerently delicious hop monster upon the public annually from now on. We packed a whopping five pounds of hops into each barrel, and cranked up the ABV to stand up to the hop onslaught. The results are glorious, and we know you’ll rejoice in tasting this audacious gem of hoppy splendor once again. You’re welcome.
What a great read. I remember EVERYTHING vividly. I’m so glad he saw the Garbage Burger before I saw the Corned Beef Burger, otherwise we could have had a food challenge face-off. Ah well, it was for the better, at least for me!
The regular line of their great burgers all run $9.99. With the Terrible Garbage Burger only being a $10.99 purchase, it very well could be the best value in food challenges ever!
I took a couple bites from the perimeter of his plate, I scooped up what I later found out was hot fudge, melted ice cream and liverwurst. UGH!!!! He’s a trooper!
Had a great time on our Red Eye Road Trip, trying to make Twitterless Andrew trending in our car and so many other great moments and quotes!
On this episode I try the distinctively strong, MacFuddy Pepper Elixir. A vintage style soda by Orca Beverage Soda Works. Contains real vanilla, cherry and pepper extracts in the ingredients! Drinking this provides 24 hours of good luck!
Thanks to friends of the show Anna & Will for providing this soda as part of their mystery 7 pack!
Just felt like recording a shout out/unboxing video. My wife’s friends Anna & Will were thinking about ol’ BevNerd and stopped at a really cool store called Route 66 in Arcadia, OK. They grabbed me an assortment of unique and borderline weird sodas for me to try! THANKS A BUNCHES! These sounds really fun.

I’ve had the last week to get very familiar with the package of meaty snacks sent to me from the folks at Kickass Beef Jerky/Snacks out of the Milwaukee, WI & Winona, MN area. On the review video, I try the Original Beef Jerky (mason jar style), Hot Beef Jerky (single serve 3oz style), and Garlic Beef Snack Sticks. Other flavors I’ve sampled already and talk about are Peppered & Teriyaki Beef Jerky and Honey BBQ & Spicy Beef Sticks.
They also have a vast array of pickled items like eggs, asparagus and even brussel sprouts. Also, condiments like jalapeno catsup & mustard.
I’m a big fan of what I’ve tried prior to the episode and I’ve gotta get a hold of those pickled goodies!
